Calling all Health Education Faculty and Students:

Enter Our Health Education and Social Media Contest to win $500!

Social media and Web 2.0 have become regular fixtures of our modern society. However, to what extent are we using this technology in our field? What are we doing to prepare 21^st Century health educators to use this technology? How can social media be used effectively to impact health behavior and promote social change?

We invite you to share your ideas, class assignments or projects, and innovative “case studies” with us as we explore this issue further. Walden University in cooperation with the HEDIR is sponsoring the first “Health Education and Social Media” contest. Individuals, groups, or academic programs are encouraged to submit examples of how social media or other technologies can be used to develop and deliver effective health education. (Faculty, please consider this contest when planning your syllabi for the 2010-11 academic year).

CONTEST DETAILS

As an individual, group, or academic program, submit an example (or examples) of how social media can be used effectively to deliver health education or promote social change. Provide us with an example (screen shots, hyperlinks or video) as well as a 1-page written explanatory summary. Select nominees will be posted on the HEDIR Blog and HEDIR Facebook page.

Entries accepted from September 1- March 1, 2011.
Up to ten finalists selected by an expert panel.
Finalists showcased on the HEDIR Blog beginning in March 2011.
HEDIR Blog subscribers along with expert panel will vote for the winner!
Winner announced in March, prior to the AAHPERD Convention in San Diego.
Prize of $500 (sponsored by Walden University) awarded to the winner.
Spotlight of the winner at the HEDIR Technology forum in 2011 and on the HEDIR Blog and/or Facebook page.
