It is with GREAT pleasure that we announce the 2009 AAHE/HEDIR Technology Recipient. The purpose of this award is to recognize a health educator, or a group, who has made exceptional contributions or who has transformed the profession of health education through technology. The award was created by Mark Kittleson, owner of the HEDIR in 1997. The American Association for Health Education (AAHE) is a partner with HEDIR on this Award.
I’m proud to announce that the 2009 AAHE/HEDIR Recipient is Dr. Jody Oomen-Early from Texas Woman’s University. Dr. Oomen-Early has been a long time advocate for using technology and it is most fitting that she is this year’s recipient. Details are being worked out for her to give a presentation next year at the AAHE HEDIR Technology Seminar.
Our previous winners have included Dr. Robert Gold (1997), Dr. Billie Lindsey (1998), and Dr. Vic Strecher and Dr. Judy Baker (1999), Dr. Alyson Taub (2000), Dr. James Eddy (2001), Dr. Michael Pejsach (2002) and HPCAREER.net/Michaela Conley (2002), Dr. Don Chaney and Elaine Auld (2003), Dr. Min Qi Wang (2003), Dr. Mark Tomita (2004), Dr. Cristy Jefson (2007) and BlueKids.org (2007), Dr. Valerie Ubbes (2008).

My thanks to this year’s review team: Dr. Michael Olpin, Weber State, Dr. Priya Banerjee, SUNY Brockport, and Dr. Kele Ding, Kent State University.
If you see Jody at next week’s convention be sure to congratulate her.
